Franciscan Health Michigan City is a 310-bed, full-service acute care facility. As a trusted leader in providing faith-based, integrated health care in Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan, Franciscan Health Michigan City works closely with physician groups, outpatient centers, fitness centers and other health care providers to provide comprehensive care without duplication of services. The hospital offers a wide variety of specialties to residents and visitors of Michigan City and surrounding communities.

The emergency department at Franciscan Health Michigan City has an annual patient volume of 35,000. The emergency physicians work in tandem with a team of fast track physicians and nurse practitioners to facilitate thorough and expeditious care in a 24-bed facility. To further coordinate emergency needs, the department has an attached ambulance garage capable of accommodating six active EMS units simultaneously that enters directly into the trauma wing of the department. The ED has 36 hours of physician coverage daily, with 12-hour shifts. There is an additional 12–18 hours of nurse practitioner or physician assistant coverage daily. Moonlighting is available for final year residents. Clinicians utilize the EMR Epic®.

Franciscan Health Michigan City will be opening a new hospital in September 2018.
