Franciscan Emergency Center Chesterton is the region's first and only full-service, 24-hour freestanding emergency and urgent care center. Franciscan Emergency Center Chesterton offers convenient access to faster, personalized service. As an extension of Franciscan Health Michigan City, Franciscan Emergency Center Chesterton offers the same high-quality, full-range of medical services expected from their hospital.

Physicians who appreciate a community environment and smaller patient population will enjoy the free-standing Franciscan Emergency Center Chesterton in Chesterton, Indiana. Annual patient volume is modestly increasing since opening in 2012 and currently averages 10,000 patients per year. Physicians see an average of 22 patients in a 24-hour period and work 12 or 24 hour shifts daily. Trauma is transferred to Chesterton’s sister facility, Franciscan Health Michigan City. All physicians are trained to use the Epic® EMR system and oriented to the facility prior to patient interactions.

Chesterton, Indiana is located 20-minutes from the picturesque shores of Lake Michigan and approximately 50 miles southeast of Chicago, and 20-minutes to Valparaiso University. The town's close proximity to Chicago and transportation infrastructure has significantly contributed to the town's development. The close-knit community has attracted tourists with dynamic natural beauty, warm hospitality of annual festivals and plenty of opportunities to enjoy meaningful ecological, educational and cultural experiences.
