Saint Mary Mercy Hospital is a full-service, 304-bed hospital that opened its doors in 1959. The St. Joseph Mercy Health System has been spotlighted as one of the few health systems in the United States that uses a computerized order entry system, a key component that improves patient care and drastically reduces medication errors.
Over the past 50 years, Saint Mary Mercy Hospital has undergone extensive renovations and expansions while its mission is to meet the ongoing healthcare needs the community and growing population. The most recent expansions include a 154,000 square foot addition, featuring all-private rooms, expanded emergency center and senior ER, as well as the Our Lady of Hope Cancer Center, Heart & Vascular Center and Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.

Emergency Department
This brand new emergency department sees approximately 50,000 patients annually. Within the department, a state-of-the-art Senior ER is available, offering a warmer environment and 14 specialized treatment rooms. The EM residency training program commenced in July 2010. In addition, the hospital has strong tertiary support including easy transfer to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. Physician coverage totals 46-56 hours daily and experienced nurse practitioners and physician assistants offer an additional 9.5 hours of coverage per day. Shifts are generally nine hours in length. Clinicians utilize the EMR FirstNet®.
